We’re always interested in hearing from great people who’d like to spend some time with us here in beautiful Lake Atitlan, as a volunteer. We have a morning and an evening shift. Both shifts are 5 hrs long and you’ll be expected to work one shift per day.

The morning shift (8am – 1pm) is focused on providing coffees, teas, breakfast and smoothies for our guests, leaving the kitchen spotless for dinner and some cleaning and light gardening tasks.

The evening shift (3pm – 8pm) is focused on preparing and serving dinner and leaving the kitchen spotless and well-stocked for breakfast. We’re always happy to hear from people with the following qualities / experience.

  • Experience of cooking and preparing wholesome, simple vegetarian / vegan food
  • Hardworking
  • Adaptable
  • Ability to improvise
  • Friendly
  • Calm under pressure
  • Resourceful
  • Animal lover
  • Reliable / punctual
  • Gardening experience preferred
  • Social media savvy / computer literate
  • Fluent English speaker and working proficiency in Spanish desirable

For both positions, we provide a dorm bed, breakfast and 50% off food and drinks bought on the premises. The kitchen is closed between breakfast and dinner so you’ll need to make your own lunch arrangements.

We require a minimum commitment of 1 month and a maximum of 3.

If you have relevant experience and are interested in volunteering at The Hummingbird Hostel, then please get in touch and tell us a bit about yourself!
